The accessibility to high fidelity, powerful telematics took a step forward today as Trimble revealed additional functionality for its popular Roadworks Paving Control Platform. Now available for mills and cold planers, the three-dimensional control system opens up a new world of precision and control when applied to cutting depth.

As before, the system operates on the Android architecture, and is designed to be user-friendly while giving project managers and operators the ability to meet extremely stringent standard and specifications on the jobsite. It is designed to reduce over-cutting and produce a more consistent surface for demanding projects like airport runways, highways, racetracks, etc.

The software's ability to display in 3D the areas that are on, above or below the correct grade, assists operators while reducing the chance for common or unseen errors. Without the need for traditional string lines or manual alterations, the platform should automatically guide the milling drum by comparing its actual position with the slope of the project's design.Schaumburg, Illinois, U.S., Rabine PavingSchaumburg, Illinois, U.S., Rabine PavingProvided by Trimble

“Complex paving projects such as airport runways and heavily-traveled highways have some of the tightest specifications in the construction industry,” said Kevin Garcia, general manager of Civil Specialty Solutions at Trimble.Trimble Roadworks for milling and cold planing takes both the guesswork and the re-work out of milling, making it easy for operators to mill precisely to a 3D design elevation. The benefits of this extend throughout the entire paving process, creating less work for pavers, decreasing asphalt usage, and increasing overall surface smoothness.”

For those that already use existing Trimble Roadwards software, the user interface will be familiar, because it uses the same platform. This system is also already compatible with Trimble WorksManager which can transfer data and track the movements of construction equipment through jobsites, as well as other Trimble branded programs and technology.

Trimble Roadworks for Mills and Cold Planers is available now for customers worldwide through the SITECH distributor channel. For more information, visit: civilconstruction.trimble.com/roadworks-milling.
