During CONEXPO/CON-AGG 2023 one of the most heated debates, as well as one of the most innovative products on the showroom floor for maintenance pros was the robotic crack sealing machine that was developed and built by the minds at Robotic Maintenance Vehicles (RMV) and SealMaster. This is one of those product ideas that literally started as a napkin sketch idea. After speaking with the account manager for RMV, Adam Gray, the sense is that this is only the beginning of the possibilities.
While the cost of the machines is currently a bit steep, they do provide some serious benefits, which over time could offset some of those initial purchasing woes. Obviously, the machine's level of accuracy, speed, and efficiency outperform what even the most seasoned veteran crack sealing human could do. And they've tested it one-to-one against human teams. On top of that, the RMV rig can work even in the darkness of night, still accurately judging crack-depth and sealing them during the much less busy times of evening.
