Makita has released the 5-in. Paddle Switch Angle Grinder with AC/DC Switch (9558HP) adding another option for professional users in metal fabrication shops as well as construction, electrical, mechanical and plumbing trades.
“Makita goes deep and wide in the grinding category, offering users a solution to fit their needs. The new 5in. Paddle Switch Angle Grinder, with AC/DC Switch (9558HP) further expands Makita’s current grinding portfolio,” said Rufus Richardson, senior product manager for commercial products, Makita U.S.A., Inc. “The 5-in. Paddle Switch Angle Grinder gives the user 7.5 amps plus 10,000 rmp in a 4.5 lb. grinder.”
The 9558HP has a 7.5-amp motor that delivers 10,000 rpm for material removal. Equipped with a large flush-mounted paddle switch, the 5-in. Angle Grinder features a compact design with a 2.5-in. diameter barrel grip. Users have the option of using a simple slide switch to allow the 5-in. Angle Grinder to operate using either AC or DC power (with a generator), depending on which power source is available at a jobsite.
The 9558HP features labyrinth construction, which seals and protects the drive gear and bearing from contamination, as well as zig-zag varnish on both sides of the armature coil and a powder-coated field for protection from dust and debris.
Additional features include an all ball-bearing design and metal gear housing for durability and thick coil wires that are wound closely to reduce heat and energy loss. There is also a push button spindle lock and a side handle. The 9558HP weighs 4.6 lbs.
