DICA has released an interlocking Dunnage system designed for the daily challenges concrete pump operators are facing on the jobsite. SafetyTech Steel Dunnage utilizes the properties of steel and DICA’s engineered thermoplastic material to promote stability and reduce ground bearing pressure. The interlocking design consists of eight total parts that can be stored, deployed and retrieved by a single person.
SafetyTech Steel Dunnage system is made up of three SafetyTech Outrigger base pads and four steel tubes. It is topped with a SafetyTech pad with an integrated steel plate and recessed radius to keep the outrigger float in place. The steel tubes fit into machined grooves in the SafetyTech base pads and the top pad interlocks into the steel tubes to prevent movement.
Working in unison, these materials and features are optimized to create a portable solution for everyday use.
“Concrete pump operators are often working alone in situations where risk levels are high, so our goal was to develop a system of supporting materials to create an optimized system to provide the needed stability and load distribution that can be easily stored and doesn’t require additional equipment to set up,” said Kris Koberg, CEO of DICA.
Available in two sizes, the 13.5-sq.-ft. SafetyTech Steel Dunnage system has a rated capacity of 60,000 lbs. and is designed for concrete pumps up to 49 m. The 18.3-sq.-ft. system is rated for 110,000 lbs. and designed for concrete pump trucks up to 63 m. Both configurations are designed for outrigger floats up to 18 in. in diameter.
