After decades of pioneering the concrete construction industry in Florida, James Patrick Judge Sr., 78, died Friday, December 29, 2023 in Temple Terrace, Florida. He is survived by three children.
Judge formed Judge Construction in the mid-1960's, then PUMPS Inc. in 1980s with his brother, Tom Judge in the manufacturing of smaller, towable concrete pumps, most notably the P-88 concrete pump (the largest selling small line concrete pump in the world in 2000, according to Schwing.) After the PUMPS Inc., Judge and brothers formed Concrete Pump Dispatch Inc. - serving the Tampa Bay and southeastern U.S. areas. The company was dissolved in 2023 with the brothers retiring.
His work included many iconic projects such as "Walt Disney World, Epcot, Crystal River Nuclear Powerplant, Turkey Point Nuclear Power Plant, the Skyway Bridge, Tampa Stadium, Raymond James Stadium, Busch Gardens, Ben Hill Griffin Stadium, Tampa International Airport," and many more. His work was key to transforming the city skylines of Tampa, Miami, Orlando, and Jacksonville.
